East Division Player of the Week: Mason Swinney, Amsterdam Mohawks

East Division Co-Pitcher of the Week: Brandon Scott, Utica Blue Sox

East Division Co-Pitcher of the Week: Teck Nash, Watertown Rapids

Amsterdam infielder Mason Swinney (Alabama) has been named the East Division Player of the Week after tallying 10 runs, 11 hits, six extra-base hits, 10 runs batted in, three home runs, two walks and a stolen base during the Mohawks’ 6-0 week.

Swinney had a huge day swinging the bat during Amsterdam’s 13-1 win over Glens Falls on Monday. He went 4 for 4 at the plate with three home runs, a triple, four runs scored and six runs batted in as the Mohawks ended the game in seven innings via run rule at Shuttleworth Park.

Swinney went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBI during a 9-8 road victory over the Albany Dutchmen on Thursday.

Utica left-handed pitcher Brandon Scott (Hillsdale) was named East Division Co-Pitcher of the Week due to his outing during a 6-3 win at Boonville on Friday. Making his second start of the season, Scott was credited with the win after allowing three hits, zero walks and zero earned runs with 10 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. The victory was Scott’s first of the campaign.

Watertown right-hander Teck Nash (Hobart) is also an East Division Co-Pitcher of the Week following a great relief outing on Thursday against the Oneonta Outlaws. Nash entered the game with two outs in the top of the fifth, as the Rapids trailed 6-3. Over the final 4.1 innings, Nash limited the visiting Outlaws to one hit, one walk and zero runs with four strikeouts, which allowed the Rapids to mount a comeback effort late in the game, scoring one run in the seventh and three in the eighth to take a 7-6 lead at Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds Stadium. After Oneonta took the lead in the eighth, Nash stranded the leadoff hitter on base during a scoreless top of the ninth to close out the victory, which improved his record to 1-0 this summer.
