SAUGERTIES, NY – The Saugerties Stallions pick up their fourth straight win after beating the Glens Falls Dragons 9-1 at Cantine Field Friday night.

The Stallions got things rolling in the first inning after outfielder Jahlani Rogers scores from a sacrifice fly ball by fellow outfielder TJ Adams.

Saugerties kept the runs coming in the second inning when extra hitter Garett Michel hit an RBI double to bring home second baseman Evan Goforth to go up 2-0. Later in the inning, shortstop Alex Rodriguez scored Michel on an RBI double to go up 3-0.

The Ponies scored three more runs in the third inning after first baseman Jake Skrine scored Adams on a ground rule double, designated hitter Easton Bertrand flew out to score third baseman Brandon Fish and Michel roped an RBI double to score Skrine to make it a 6-0 ballgame.

On the mound, right-handed pitcher Alex Canney tossed five innings of no-run ball with only two hits and six strikeouts.

The score would not change until the bottom of the seventh inning as Skrine sent a ball into the outfield to bring home Adams for the second time on an RBI single. Goforth doubled to bring home Fish to make it 8-0 Stallions and left fielder David Shackelford committed a sacrifice fly to score Skrine as their lead increased to 9-0.

In the ninth inning, Glens Falls got on the board with one out as extra hitter Martin Marintchev sent a single into shallow right field to score left fielder Phillip Krpata.

Right-handed pitcher James Reilly closed out the game after tossing four innings, allowing that lone run on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk to end the game.

Saugerties improves to 5-6 on the year, with an opportunity to get to .500 tomorrow night as they take on the Watertown Rapids at Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds Stadium. First pitch is set at 7:05 p.m. You can catch all the action on the Saugerties Stallions YouTube channel.
