AMSTERDAM, NY – The Saugerties Stallions fall to the Amsterdam Mohawks 10-3 in the rematch of last year’s PGCBL championship.

Amsterdam struck in the first inning with a fielder’s choice by Josh Overbeek to bring in Gage Mitchell.

Saugerties retaliated and tied the game up at 1-1 with Brett Heckert scoring on a passed ball in the top of the second inning.

In the third inning, the Stallions took the lead after Jahlani Rogers scored on an RBI single by Mason Speaker, followed by Amsterdam’s Brett Coker scoring from second on an RBI single by Overbeek to tie it up at 2-2.

The Stallions regained the lead due to TJ Adams drawing a walk to bring home Cody Kelly and knotting up the score at 3-2.

The next half of the inning showed 11 Mohawk batters stepping up to the plate and driving in seven runs; two of them coming from a two-run home run by Jacob Hand.

Hand would later hit a home run in the next inning to increase the lead to 10-3.

The Stallions could not buy a hit for 5.2 innings, until Alex Rodriguez roped a double into the left field wall in the top of the ninth inning.

However, Rodriguez would stay at second up until the final out with a flyout to end the game.

Saugerties heads back home to raise a banner at Cantine Field, followed by a game against the Amsterdam Mohawks  with first pitch starting at 7:05 p.m.
