SAUGERTIES, NY—The Saugerties Stallions earn their first win of the season as they defeat the Glens Falls Dragons 10-1 Thursday night at Cantine Field.
The Dragons had an opportunity to score a run early in the first inning, but Saugerties left fielder Colin Mackle made the rally throw to catcher Mason Speaker to get Phillip Krpata out at home plate.’
In the bottom frame of the first inning, the Indiana University connection pulled through as first baseman Jake Skrine sent an RBI double down the third base line to score second baseman Evan Goforth.
After the initial run scored by the Stallions, four more runs scored to put Saugerties up 5-0 after two innings.
Glens Falls got on the board in the top of the third inning after a leadoff triple by third baseman Kyle Zaslaw was cashed in off a fielder’s choice hit by Krpata.
After that run, it was all Stallions.
Shortstop Alex Rodriguez blasted an RBI double to score third baseman Brandon Fish in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Fast forward to the seventh inning, where Saugerties scored two runs from a passed ball to bring home Rodriguez and an RBI double by first baseman Garrett Michel.
The eighth inning started with back-to-back walks, which led to another walk with the bases loaded to bring home Skrine and another run scored on a double play ball to score Mackle.
The Stallions retired the side to end the game victorious after pitcher Drake Quinn was called to close the game in the top of the ninth inning.
Saugerties hits the road to Mohawk Valley to take on the DiamondDawgs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
