Five games were completed on Friday. Scheduled meetings between Amsterdam and Boonville, and Albany and Utica were both postponed due to weather.
Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 13, Watertown Rapids 3
After a scoreless first inning, the DiamondDawgs put up at least one run in each of the next six innings to end the game in the seventh via run rule.
Mohawk Valley center fielder Nick Sturino (Fairfield) and designated hitter Mitch Balint (Carson-Newman) both tallied three RBI for the DiamondDawgs, while second baseman Ethan Valdez (Spring Hill) recorded a game-high four hits to go along with two RBI and a game-high three runs scored. Mohawk Valley left-handed pitcher Colton Trisch (George Washington) got the win on the mound after allowing two hits, five walks and one run with eight strikeouts through the first 5.0 innings.
Balint also contributed three hits, including a double, to go along with his three RBI on Friday. He currently leads the league in hits (13), doubles (6) and RBI (14).
Left fielder Owen Pincince (New Haven) scored two runs during the victory to give him a league-best 10 runs scored this season.
Watertown third baseman Pranav Sundar (Cuesta) recorded a two-run double for the Rapids during the setback.
The DiamondDawgs (5-2) will return to action on Sunday with a 5:00 p.m. matchup against Boonville. The Rapids will return home to take on Utica on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
Batavia Muckdogs 10, Geneva Red Wings 6
The Red Wings scored four runs in the top of the eighth on Friday to mount a comeback, but Batavia’s Trey Bacon (Santa Fe) got the final five outs to shut the door on Geneva and earn his second save of the campaign.
Batavia’s starting pitcher Julian Pichardo (Fort Lauderdale) compiled 10 strikeouts while conceding five hits, zero walks and zero earned runs in 6.0 innings of work. Pichardo previously tallied eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work during his first start of the season on June 3. He currently leads the PGCBL with 18 total strikeouts, and he has yet to walk a batter.
Right-hander Eric Swiencicki (Le Moyne) replaced Pichardo after the sixth and delivered a 1-2-3 top of the seventh inning with two strikeouts.
Left fielder Matt DeStefano (Stony Brook) and third baseman Giuseppe Arcuri (Saint Leo) both recorded two RBI for the Muckdogs, while center fielder Anthony Calabro (West Georgia) and first baseman Henry Daniels (West Georgia) added two hits and two runs scored each.
Geneva broke the 0-0 tie in the top of the first on an RBI single from catcher Brennan Staubley (Franklin Pierce), then Batavia took the lead for good in the bottom of the first after Calabro drove in a run with a double then stole third and crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
The Red Wings scored four runs in the top of the eighth with the help of a two-run double from first baseman Ethan Swidler (Lafayette), but Bacon entered the game with one out in the inning and retired the next two batters to end the frame. Bacon then recorded a 1-2-3 top of the ninth to complete the save and secure the win for Batavia.
Batavia right fielder Josh Leadem (Rochester) stole two bases during the victory, giving him a league-high eight stolen bases so far this season (tied with Albany’s Vince Venditti).
The Muckdogs (3-2) will play a non-league game on Saturday at home, while the Red Wings (1-3) will travel to Jamestown on Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. matchup against the Tarp Skunks.
Niagara Power 8, Newark Pilots 3
The Pilots trailed just 4-3 after eight innings, then the Power put up four runs in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach. Third baseman Vincent Mauro (Niagara) tallied two runs, three hits and three RBI for the Power, while left fielder Jackson Strong (Canisius) also recorded three hits to go along with an RBI and two runs scored.
Niagara right-hander Rockne Seidel (Canisius) was credited with the win after surrendering just one hit, one walk and zero runs with one strikeout in 2.1 innings in relief (he replaced the starting pitcher to begin the bottom of the fifth).
Newark center fielder Frankie DiMartino (Hofstra) led the Pilots at the plate with three hits and an RBI.
Shortstop Zach Evans (Lenoir-Rhyne) reached base four times on Friday for the Power with two walks, a single and a double, tallying two runs scored and an RBI.
The Power (3-2) and the Pilots (0-5) will play again on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Niagara’s Sal Maglie Stadium. Saturday will be the home opener for the Power.
Auburn DoubleDays 7, Jamestown Tarp Skunks 0
The DoubleDays (3-1) broke the 0-0 tie with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to hand the Tarp Skunks (3-1) their first loss of the campaign and meet them atop the West Division Standings.
Auburn catcher Bobby Stang (Georgia Southern) led the DoubleDays at the plate with a game-high three hits, including two doubles, and a team-best two RBI, while shortstop Harrison Campi (Wofford) added two hits and a run scored.
Auburn right-handed pitchers Jack Conley (Hiram) and Joseph Gleason (Mansfield) held the visitors to just one hit and one walk in nine innings. Conley started on the mound and surrendered just one hit, zero walks and zero runs with two strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work, then Gleason conceded zero hits, zero runs and one walk with four strikeouts during the final 3.0 frames. It was the first appearance of the 2023 season for both pitchers.
Left fielder Paul Catalano (Fairfield) recorded Jamestown’s lone hit of the game.
The DoubleDays will play again on Saturday at Elmira at 6:35 p.m., while the Tarp Skunks will host Geneva for a 6:30 p.m. matchup on Saturday.
Oneonta Outlaws 5, Saugerties Stallions 2
After establishing a 3-2 lead after eight innings, the Outlaws (3-3) added two runs in the top of the ninth to secure the win over the Stallions (1-3).
Left fielder Christopher Baillargeon (Holy Cross) went 4 for 5 at the plate for the Outlaws, while right fielder Dakota Britt (Herkimer) added three hits, an RBI and a run scored. Oneonta catcher Caden Marsters (Erskine) reached base four times with two walks and two hits, and he recorded a game-high two runs scored.
Oneonta right-handed starting pitcher Kyle Mahady (Saint Peter’s) earned the win on the mound after conceding four hits, two runs and three walks with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work. It was the second start of the season for Mahady, who previously completed 6.0 innings of work during a 7-6 win over Utica on June 3.
After right-hander Martin Thorsland (Oneonta State) tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts for the Outlaws, righty Sean Dertinger struck out all three batters during a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to earn his first save of the season and secure the win for Oneonta.
Saugerties third baseman Corey Dowdell (Georgia Southern) recorded a walk and a team-high two hits during the setback.
The game was tied 1-1 after five innings before Oneonta first baseman Jack Hopko (Rhode Island) and Britt both recorded an RBI single in the top of the sixth to give the Outlaws a 3-1 lead.
The Stallions got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from left fielder Conor Kelly (UMass Lowell), but Oneonta added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth.
The Outlaws will play a 6:45 p.m. game at Amsterdam on Saturday, while the Stallions will play at Glens Falls on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

The Pioneers claimed a 6-0 win in a non-PGCBL contest on Friday.
