Elmira Pioneers 18, Niagara Power 9

Elmira put up a season-high 18 runs in their road victory, scoring 16 of them in the last three innings. They scored five of them in the seventh inning, including two of them on an RBI single off the bat of Frank Wayman (UMass-Lowell), who went 3-for-5 on the afternoon with four RBIs and four runs scored as he tacked on another two-run single as part of a seven-run ninth inning. David Coleman (High Point) hit a home run in the first inning for Niagara, part of a 2-for-4 day, driving in four runs.

Newark Pilots 14, Batavia Muckdogs 10

Newark led 4-3 through seven innings, but scored five in the top half of the eighth to take a six-run lead, only to have Batavia answer with seven in the bottom half to take a 10-9 lead, but Newark re-took the lead with five more in the top of the ninth. Matt Fabian (Ithaca) had the go-ahead two-run single, part of a 2-for-5 day, driving in three runs. Kobe Mentzer (Union) also drove in three runs for Newark, going 3-for-5.

Amsterdam Mohawks 13, Glens Falls Dragons 1 (Game 1)

Up 4-1 after four innings, Amsterdam scored nine runs in the top of the fifth inning to finish off the blowout win of Glens Falls in the first half of the doubleheader. In that fifth inning, Brett Coker (Middle Tennessee State) had a two-run single and Zach Gardiner (Marshall) also had an RBI single. Cade Bush (Florida State) went 3-for-3 in the win. On the mound, Cole Cheatham (Mississippi State) threw five innings of one-hit ball and struck out eight.

Amsterdam Mohawks 13, Glens Falls Dragons 0 (Game 2)

Leading 2-0 after four this time around, the Mohawks scored double digit runs in a single inning for the second night in a row to finish off the doubleheader sweep. In that fifth inning, Bush had a three-run double, while Gage Miller (Bishop State CC), Mark Black (Wake Forest), Jacob Hand (WPI) and Frankie Marinelli (Manhattan) all had RBI hits. Holden Phelps (Missouri) struck out six over four one-hit innings. Amsterdam improves to 19-3 after the sweep.

Watertown Rapids 11, Boonville Baseball Club 9

Watertown scored seven runs in the second inning, kicked off and highlighted by a solo home run off the bat of Tyree Bradley (Bloomfield), his fifth home run of the season as he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Watertown scored four more in the seventh inning, including an RBI double from Rob Conley (Mohawk Valley CC), who went 2-for-4. Boonville rallied late with a three-run home run in the ninth from Effrain Correa Jr. (Mount St. Mary’s), but it was not enough.

The game between the Geneva Red Wings and Jamestown Tarp Skunks was postponed due to inclement weather.
