Four games were completed on Monday.

Elmira Pioneers 6, Niagara Power 1

Reigning West Division Player of the Week Matt Granato (St. Thomas) delivered two hits, a run and a game-high three runs batted in to help lead the Pioneers (8-4) to a 6-1 victory over the Niagara Power (7-3-1) on Monday at Niagara’s Sal Maglie Stadium in a battle at the top of the West Division Standings.

After the Power took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, Granato gave the Pios their first lead of the game with a two-run triple in the top of the third inning.

Elmira extended their lead to 4-1 in the top of the fifth on a two-run double from first baseman John Schroeder (Florida Atlantic). Extra hitter Jake Kelleher (ETSU) recorded a team-high three hits and a game-high three runs scored for the Pioneers.

Elmira starting pitcher Joseph Keldsen (Cal State) scattered eight hits and five walks while allowing just one run in 4.1 innings of work to earn his first victory of the season. Right-hander Brendan Ferrari (UMass Boston) tossed 3.2 scoreless innings in relief for the Pios, then righty Christian Zilli (Seton Hill) pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.

Shortstop Zach Evans (Lenoir-Rhyne) and first baseman Vincent Mauro (Niagara) recorded three hits each for the Power during the setback.

The Power are currently in first place in the West Division Standings with a .682 winning percentage. The Pioneers are second in the Division with a .667 winning percentage.

Niagara will return to action on Thursday when they host the Newark Pilots for a game at 6:00 p.m. The Pioneers will host Batavia on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.

Saugerties Stallions 5, Albany Dutchmen 2

The Saugerties pitching staff allowed just four hits on Monday as the Stallions (4-5) claimed a 5-2 win over East Division foe Albany (5-8) at Dutchmen Field.

Saugerties third baseman Damion Kenealy (Polk St.) and first baseman Corey Dowdell (Georgia Southern) combined for all five of the Stallions’ RBI. Dowdell, who finished the contest with two hits and a game-high three RBI, launched a solo home run in the top of the fourth to break the 0-0 tie. Kenealy smashed a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to give the Stallions a 3-0 advantage.

The Stallions used seven different pitchers during the nine innings. Right-hander Jack Clifford was credited with the victory after tossing a scoreless frame in the bottom of the fourth. Left-hander Quinton Hall (Eastern Kentucky) relieved Clifford to begin the bottom of the fifth, and he tossed two scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

Right fielder JT Vance (Mississippi College) and catcher Steven Nitch (Barry) both scored a run for Albany during the setback, while Josh Foglia (HVCC) delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.

The Dutchmen and the Stallions will play again on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at Saugerties’ Cantine Veterans Memorial Field.

Batavia Muckdogs 6, Newark Pilots 5

The Muckdogs (8-5) scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Monday at Dwyer Stadium to claim a 6-5 win over the visiting Newark Pilots (1-11).

Batavia catcher Adam Agresti (St. John’s) led all players with three hits, a walk and four RBI during the victory, while James Aselta (Lafayette) drove in the winning run in the eighth.

Right-handed pitcher Ryan Kinney (Xavier University of Louisiana) tallied seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings in relief for the Muckdogs while limiting the visitors to two hits, one walk and one run.

Batavia right-hander Trey Bacon (Santa Fe) pitched a scoreless frame with two strikeouts in the top of the ninth to record his league-leading fifth save of the campaign. No other pitcher in the PGCBL has more than two saves so far this season.

Newark infielder Harris McReynolds (Northeast Mississippi) recorded a team-high two RBI for the Pilots, while Jack Arcamone (Richmond) and Gage Boatman (East Central) added two hits and a run scored each during the setback.

The Muckdogs will travel to Elmira on Tuesday for a 6:35 p.m. contest against the Pioneers, while the Pilots will return to action on Wednesday when they host the Auburn DoubleDays for a matchup at 7:05 p.m. at Colburn Park

Utica Blue Sox 11, Glens Falls Dragons 0

The Blue Sox (6-7) scored a combined nine runs during the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to claim an 11-0 win over the Dragons (3-6) via run rule after eight innings.

First baseman Will Shannon (Hillsdale) and second baseman Peter Adams (Limestone) both recorded two runs batted in during the victory. Adams also registered a team-high two hits, while center fielder Easton Brenner (Lafayette) added a double, a walk, a hit by pitch, a stolen base and an RBI sacrifice fly.

Utica right-hander Thomas Roefaro (Oneonta) delivered a quality start for the Blue Sox, allowing just two hits, two walks and zero runs with six strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work to record his second win of the season.

Right-handers Brandon Millan (Fort Lauderdale), Chris Killian (Monmouth) and Avery Cook (Purdue) each tossed 1.0 scoreless inning in relief for the Blue Sox.

The Blue Sox will return to action on Thursday when they play a 6:30 p.m. game at Mohawk Valley. The Dragons will travel to Oneonta on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Outlaws.
