One PGCBL contest was completed on Wednesday. Niagara Power 2, Jamestown Tarp Skunks 0

After Tuesday’s matchup between Niagara and Jamestown ended in a 2-2 tie after 10 innings, the Power (5-2-1) defeated the Tarp Skunks (5-2-1) by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday evening at Jamestown’s Diethrick Park to join the Tarp Skunks at the top of the West Division Standings.

Niagara right-handed starting pitcher Bryan Aduddle (Canisius) completed 7.1 innings of work while limiting the home team to two hits, five walks and zero runs with six strikeouts to earn his first victory of the season. Right-hander Andrew Bench (Niagara County) pitched the final 1.2 innings and allowed zero hits, zero runs and a walk with two strikeouts to earn his first save of the campaign.

The Power broke the 0-0 tie in the top of the second when right fielder Myles Pallister (Kentucky Wesleyan) hit the ball to the right side of the infield, and it got past the Jamestown second baseman, which allowed center fielder Brett Johnson (Niagara County) to cross the plate.

The Power added an insurance run in the top of the fifth when third baseman Vincent Mauro (Niagara) delivered an RBI single to right field.

Niagara extra hitter Alex Dzimian (D’Youville) recorded a game-high two hits during the victory. Johnson finished the contest with two walks, a base hit and a run scored.

Jamestown shortstop Tommy Googins (Princeton) and designated hitter Aidan Wallace (Tampa) drew two walks each during the setback, while left fielder Paul Catalano (Fairfield) and third baseman Matt Thompson (Youngstown State) each recorded a hit for the Tarp Skunks.

Jamestown right-handed starting pitcher Kasey Gilman (Princeton) and left-handed reliever Evan Berta (Fairfield) completed 3.2 and 3.1 innings on Wednesday, respectively, and both limited the visitors to one run. Right-handed relievers Jason Masick and Luc Fuller both tossed 1.0 scoreless inning in relief.

The two sides are now tied for first place in the West Division Standings.

Jamestown and Niagara are scheduled to play each other three consecutive times between June 23-25.

The Power will return to action on Friday when they travel to Geneva for a 7:05 p.m. battle against the Red Wings, while Jamestown will host the Batavia Muckdogs on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
