It was a big day of travel and games across the league. A cross-divisional day brought us six doubleheaders and thirteen total games.
Utica Blue Sox 1, Saugerties Stallions 1 (Game 1)
Game one of this doubleheader ended in a tie after eight innings. Saugerties’ Bryce Reimer (Bucknell) allowed two baserunners in his six-inning start. Alex Canino (Limestone) threw the bulk of the innings for Utica, allowing a hit, walk, and an earned run over six.
Utica Blue Sox 1, Saugerties Stallions 11 (Game 2)
Leading by two, the Stallions broke the game open in the third with a nine-hit, eight-run frame. Lukas Schramm (Kentucky) drove in the team’s lone run, with the team trailing 10-0. Brett Heckert (Pittsburgh) and Niko Amory each had multiple RBIs for Saugerties.
Jamestown Tarp Skunks 0, Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 4 (Game 1)
A sacrifice fly by Garrett Musey (Goldey-Beacom) and a three-run home run by Alfredo Delgado (Manhattan) gave Mohawk Valley a four-run lead in the first inning. That’s all they needed as Darin Horn (Coastal Carolina) pitched five shutout innings with five strikeouts. Henry Martinez (Wagner) went two for three for Jamestown.
Jamestown Tarp Skunks 1, Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 11 (Game 2)
Mohawk Valley scored eleven runs and got twenty runners on base over five innings in game two. Six runs came off the bats of Musey and Pete Durocher (Manhattan), who both went two for three. Hayden Duke (UMass-Lowell) received the win, striking out 10 batters over four innings. Mark Tucker (North Georgia) drove in the lone run for Jamestown.
Geneva Red Wings 1, Albany Dutchmen 2 (Game 1)
In the second inning, Geneva took the early lead on an RBI double by Brandon Gelpi (Illinois Chicago). This lead was short-lived as a third-inning RBI double by Danny Rogers (Central Connecticut State) and a fourth-inning home run, but Matt Bergevin (Fairfield) gave Albany their lead. Danny Kelleher (Hofstra) received the win, allowing two hits over four innings.
Geneva Red Wings 3, Albany Dutchmen 2 (Game 2)
Albany’s Hunter Harris (Santa Ana) got into a first-inning jam, resulting in Geneva’s first two runs. The Red Wings took the game after starter Augie Walters (Holy Cross) pitched four innings of one-hit baseball. Geneva’s Wyatt Patchett (Le Moyne) led all hitters with two RBIs.
Auburn DoubleDays 9, Glens Falls Dragons 2 (Game 1)
Assaf Lowengart (Mansfield) drove in a game-leading three RBIs, including a first-inning sacrifice fly to give Auburn the lead. The DoubleDays took advantage of Gene McGough’s (Radford) start. McGough struck out nine over five innings and allowed one run.
Auburn DoubleDays 11, Glens Falls Dragons 4 (Game 2)
Trailing by two in the fifth inning, Auburn rattled off ten earned runs over two innings to take the second leg. Lowengart led the team, going two for four with three RBIs. JC Peacher (Georgia Southern) and Christian Perez (Binghamton) had two RBIs for Auburn. Jake Washock (Suffolk) was tagged with Glens Falls’ loss after five runs went on the board.
Newark Pilots 3, Boonville Baseball Club 7 (Game 1)
Tyler Yakimisky’s three-run home run gave Boonville an early platform to build off. Boonville scored four more runs, including a two-run home run by Dan Tauken. Price Daube (Seminole State) received the loss with six earned runs.
Newark Pilots 4, Boonville Baseball Club 6 (Game 2)
Kobe Mentzer (Union) hit an RBI single in the second inning, giving Newark an early lead. The Pilots carried this lead into the sixth inning, where Boonville’s offense exploded for six runs. Drake Sisemore (Butler C.C.) allowed five of the six runs without recording an out.
Elmira Pioneers 7, Watertown Rapids 2 (Game 1)
Elmira’s scoring run started in the third inning with an Ethan Errera (UMass Boston) single. After that, the Pioneers rattled off seven runs over two innings, giving them a comfortable win. Starter Bradyn Coletta (Niagara CCC) received the win after going six innings and allowing one earned run. Colin Hageman (UW Stout) went one for one with an RBI and two walks for Watertown.
Elmira Pioneers 2, Watertown Rapids 4 (Game 2)
Watertown scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning, two of which were on an RBI single by Connor Maxwell (SUNY Cobleskill). Elmira made their best comeback with Cooper Smith’s (Seton Hall) run in the fourth and an RBI single by Bobby Marsh (Penn State). Ryan Peters (SUNY Brockport) settled down and completed the six-out save.
Niagara Power 11, Batavia Muckdog 5
Niagara put the game out of reach in the second inning when they powered seven runs across the board. This attack was spearheaded by a Billy Morris (DYouville) bases-clearing triple. Morris led the team with four RBIs. Chris Isaac (Sterling) received Batavia’s loss after allowing seven runs in less than two innings.
