With four games scheduled and three being impacted by rain, only one PGCBL game was completed on Monday.

Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 5, Saugerties Stallions 4

The DiamondDawgs (25-16) were able to withstand a late Stallions (21-16-1) rally to pull out the victory.

After two scoreless innings of both teams, Mohawk Valley began the scoring in the third, first on an RBI triple by center fielder Jaden Ross (South Florida), followed by a sacrifice fly from left fielder Nick Sturino (Fairfield), which scored Ross. In the fourth, a two-run double off the bat of right fielder Brady Shannon (Central Florida) put the DiamondDawgs up 4-0, but they weren’t done. In the sixth, first baseman Sebastian Mueller (Quinnipiac) stepped up to the plate and smashed his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot to put Mohawk Valley up 5-0.

Despite being held scoreless for the first seven innings, the Stallions kept grinding out at bats, and executed a strong rally in the eighth. First, a two-run double from EH Jack Lawrence (Towson) cut the lead to 5-2, and then center fielder Andrew Amato (Delaware) would come through with an RBI single to make it 5-3. After an error would bring one more in, a pitching change would prove to work for the DiamondDawgs, and the Stallions’ bats would cool down from there.

Colin Ruddy (George Washington) pitched phenomenally for Mohawk Valley, tossing seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts to pick up the win. Aidan Colagrande (Fairfield) came in for the final four outs to shut down the Stallions rally and earn the save, his fifth of the summer.
