The balls were flying across our slate tonight, with four teams scoring in the double digits. The night finished with a one-hit night for Oneonta’s pitching staff. Here’s what went down.
Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 12, Boonville Baseball Club 1
Pete Durocher (Manhattan College) hit a first-inning sacrifice fly to give Mohawk Valley their lead. They extend this lead in the fourth with a one-run double for Noah Lucier (Fairfield) and in the sixth, where Garrett Musey (Goldy-Beacom), Alfredo Delgado (Manhattan College), and Orlando Pena (Coastal Carolina) scored. The DiamondDawgs pulled away in the eighth, scoring seven runs, including a two-run double for Pena. Bryce Collis (St John Fisher) was on the line for all seven runs of the eighth inning, issuing four walks and allowing two hits in an inning of work. Darin Horn (Coastal Carolina) received the win. He allowed two hits over six shutout innings for Mohawk Valley.
Geneva Red Wings 11, Jamestown Tarp Skunks 0
Shane Dux (Hamilton) scored in the first inning to swing the game in favor of Geneva. The Red Wings took their next steps in the fourth inning, putting up six runs in the frame. Geneva scored four in the sixth and seventh innings to finish the Tarp Skunks. Geneva’s Jordan Jaffe (Richmond) went three for four with two RBIs, while Ray Ortiz (NJIT) went two for four and drove in as many. Augie Walters (Holy Cross) pitched the entire game for the Red Wings, allowing four hits and striking out six. Travis Perry (Youngstown State) received the loss, allowing nine hits and the first seven runs. Despite Jamestown’s offensive struggles, Pat Bigham went two for two.
Albany Dutchmen 2, Amsterdam Mohawks 5
Gage Miller (Bishop State CC) set the tone for the early game with a solo home run in the first inning. This led to one-run singles from Cade Bush (Florida State) and Miller in the first two innings, giving the Mohawks a three-run lead. The Dutchmen fought back into the game when Caden Shapiro (Princeton) scored on a passed ball, and Max Gebauer (Franklin Pierce) drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, but Amsterdam fired back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to keep them at bay. Holden Phelps (Missouri) received the win, allowing one earned run in the first six innings for Amsterdam. Miller starred, going three for four with two RBIs. The Mohawks go into Tuesday’s matchup with an opportunity to get their 30th win.
Glens Falls Dragons 0, Oneonta Outlaws 13
Oneonta struck in the first inning when Dylan Broderick (Pitt-Johnstown) scored on an error, and Andrew Holub (Tulane) hit a sacrifice fly. The Outlaws scored 11 runs over three innings starting with a third-inning one-run double by Evan Keegan (Castleton). The story of the game came when the sides changed. Oneonta’s Matthew Murtagh (St Thomas Aquinas) pitched six innings, allowing one hit and issuing three walks. With the win, his ERA improves to 5.95. Aiden Dickson (Hudson Valley CC) relieved Murtagh in the seventh, allowing no hits and walking one batter. The lone hit came off the bat of Cory Listing (Coker).

After David Coleman (High Point) hit a one-run double to give Niagara the lead, Batavia scored three in the first and another on a Kenny Dodson (Canisius) stolen base. The Muckdogs then scored seven runs in three innings, including a two-run triple by Josh Leadem (Rochester). Batavia’s Leadem and Gavin Schrader (Niagara) each had multiple RBIs.
