Weather wiped out half of Monday’s PGCBL slate. The doubleheader between the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs and Utica Blue Sox and the single contest between the Oneonta Outlaws and Albany Dutchmen were postponed.

Niagara Power 3, Geneva Red Wings 0

A quick run in the bottom of the first for the Niagara Power (14-9-1), with a couple of insurance runs late, combined with a five-hit shutout masterpiece by their pitching staff, led them to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Geneva Red Wings (6-19).

Vincent Mauro (Niagara) singled in Zach Evans (Lenoir-Rhyne) in the bottom of the first before singling in Andrew Stillinger (NCCC) in the bottom of the sixth. Cal Brazier’s (Tiffin) first home run of the year in the seventh would provide all the “Power” necessary for Niagara in the victory.

Andrew Damiani (NCCC) continued his dominant summer in his first start of the campaign, extending his earned run-less streak to 25.1 innings. The righty went four innings, allowing just one hit and two walks to go with four strikeouts. Zach Johnson (Tiffin) threw three innings with five strikeouts to bridge the gap to Alex Dziman (D’Youville), who threw the final two innings to pick up his first save of the campaign.

Jamestown Tarp Skunks 4, Batavia Muckdogs 3

The matchup between the top two teams in the West Division lived up to the hype at Diethrick Park in Jamestown Monday evening, as the Tarp Skunks (15-9-1) walked off on the visiting first place Muckdogs (19-9) in the extra inning.

Drew Garth (Washington and Jefferson) would single into left to score Matt Thompson (Youngstown State) for the heroics in the bottom of the tenth.

RBI singles from Jake Kernodle (Princeton) and Henry Juan (Williams) would give Jamestown the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. An RBI groundout off the bat of Brice Mortillaro (Georgia Southwestern State) followed by a two-RBI single from Adam Agresti (St. John’s) would swing the lead to the visitors, but Paul Catalano (Fairfield) would scamper home from third during a Matt Thompson (Youngstown State) pickle to tie the game in the bottom of the third. Neither offense could cash in through the remainder of regulation, and the two bullpens would combine to throw 8.2 innings, allowing just five hits, one run (unearned) and four walks while striking out 10.

Saugerties Stallions 3, Amsterdam Mohawks 3

Saugerties (14-11-1) and Amsterdam (27-2-1) would lock horns for a three hour and 14 minute marathon at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam Monday night, and the battle would come down to the final play.

With two outs in the bottom of the tenth, Jalen DeBose would take off for home from third on a wild pitch from Saugerties pitcher Izaiah Ayala (Mt. San Antonio), but a fortuitous bounce off the padding came back to catcher Alex Nevils (Wofford), who lunged for home to tag out the sliding DeBose to end the game.

After the game was scoreless for the first seven innings, the two teams would each put up their three runs in the eighth.

Ethan Conrad (Marist) and Conor Kelly (UMass-Lowell) would each register RBI singles before Andrew Amato (Delaware) scored on an error to give the visitors a 3-0 lead. Amsterdam would be quick to respond however, as Luke Zeisloft’s (Maryland) RBI double, followed by a passed ball scoring DeBose and single from Maximus Martin (Rutgers) would knot the game at three.
