(July 4 Game)

(ONEONTA, NY): This Independence Day, the Albany Dutchmen (8-15) traveled out west to face off against the Oneonta Outlaws (9-14). In his last start as a Dutchmen, Elias Conway (University of Delaware) worked for three solid innings in which he gave up only one run on two hits while earning four strikeouts. However, it would be the Outlaws who emerged out of tonight’s tighty contested game with a win.

Albany came out of the box hot as Vince Venditti (The College of Saint Rose) and Tyler Kipp (Fairfield University) started the top of the first inning with back to back singles. Venditti would get within ninety feet of scoring but was ultimately left stranded after the third out was recorded.

Like he has done all season, Venditti proved to be a main contributor to the Dutchmen offense as he drove in Mario Cubello (St. John Fisher University) for the first and only Dutchmen run of the night.

Oneonta would get on the board and tie the game in the fourth inning after two hits and a passed ball. The game would remain tied until the bottom of the eighth where Oneonta grabbed the game winning run off of an RBI single and despite quality pitching performances from Conway and Albany relievers, the Dutchmen would not be able to respond offensively as they dropped tonight’s game 2-1.

Albany returns to action this upcoming Thursday, July 6, when the Glens Falls Dragons (9-12) visit for a 5pm double header. If you are unable to make it to Dutchmen Field for either of Thursday’s games, be sure to tune into the broadcast on Facebook Live.
