West Division Player of the Week: Tatsunori Negishi, Newark Pilots
West Division Pitcher of the Week: Anthony Laurinitis, Newark Pilots
Newark Pilots utilityman Tatsunori Negishi (Middle Tennessee State) has been named West Division Player of the Week. He compiled a monster 12 hits throughout the week, one of the largest totals in that span by a player this season.
In Newark’s doubleheader against Jamestown on July 12, he picked up three hits in each of the games to give him six in one day. His batting average now sits at .364 for the season.
Pilots pitcher Anthony Laurinitis (Keuka College) has been named the West Division Pitcher of the Week. After a couple of down appearances, the righty came through for the Pilots with a big-time performance.
On July 14, he tossed seven scoreless innings in the win over Geneva, his first victory of the season. He struck out seven, leaving no doubt that it was his day.
