The PGCBL has named Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs designated hitter Garrett Musey (Goldey-Beacom) and Newark Pilots hurler Ethan Rembish (Fairleigh Dickinson) as the PGCBL Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Musey batted 9-for-17 in five games for the DiamondDawgs this week, hitting four home runs and driving in 15 runs while scoring himself seven times. On Friday, he went 3-for-3 with two home runs and seven RBIs, helping lead the DiamondDawgs to a 15-14 win against the Watertown Rapids. The next day, he hit a grand slam in a 7-2 victory against the Albany Dutchmen, part of a 4-1 week for Mohawk Valley. For the season, he is hitting .405 with a league-leading five home runs to go along with 17 RBIs, good for second in the league.
Musey, a native of Millville, N.J. and attends Goldey-Beacom College, hit .341 with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs in 41 games for the Lightning during the 2022 season.
Rembish had a dominant start for the Pilots on Saturday against the Geneva Red Wings, throwing seven no-hit innings and striking out 11. In the start, he lowered his season ERA to 2.25 across 12 innings and has struck out 18 hitters.
This is the second week in a row that a Newark Pilot has won a weekly award, with Aaron Whitley winning Player of the Week last week.
Rembish hails from Southington, Conn. and attends Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he pitched to a 1.59 ERA in 28 1/3 innings in 16 appearances, three of which were starts. He struck out 42 hitters in those appearances.
Tune in next week to see who the next award winners are!
