SAUGERTIES, N.Y. – The Saugerties Stallions fall to the undefeated Amsterdam Mohawks in a game that left a lot of bats quiet on both sides.
In a game captivated by stellar pitching, Stallion defenders Brandon Fish, TJ Adams and Jahlani Rogers all showed up in big moments leaving their feet preserving the one-score game in back-to-back innings.
Runs came early as the Mohawks were able to plate three in the first two innings off starting pitcher Bryan Boully giving him his first loss of the season.
Stallions were able to score their sole two runs of the night thanks to timely hitting from right fielder Collin Mackle and first baseman Jake Skrine in the first and third innings respectively.
Mackle came through on the defensive side early throwing out baserunner Gage Miller who tried to reach third base on a single in the first inning.
Praxie Vigil shined in his five innings of relief allowing no runs on three hits striking out two.
Cole Cheatham started for the Mohawks throwing three innings allowing two earned runs and striking out six.
The game would see no more runners come across as the score ended at 3-2 in favor of Amsterdam.
The Stallions will seek their second win of the season on Sunday as they host the Oneonta Outlaws at Cantine Field with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM.
