West Division Pitcher of the Week: Devin Murray, Elmira Pioneers

Matt Granato (St. Thomas) has earned West Division Player of the Week honors after tallying seven hits, five runs and four RBI for the Elmira Pioneers during the team’s 4-1 week. Granato recorded two hits and two runs scored during Elmira’s 5-0 win at Newark on June 13, then he went 3 for 4 at the plate with a run and two RBI as the Pios defeated the Geneva Red Wings by a score of 5-1 on Thursday. During a 12-0 win at home over Newark, Granato went 2 for 2 at the plate with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored. He concluded his week with two hits, including a triple, a run scored and three runs batted in during a 6-1 win at Niagara. Granato is currently slashing .459/.545/.568 through 10 games played this season.

Elmira left-handed pitcher Devin Murray (Hillsdale) is the West Division Pitcher of the Week due to his performance on the mound during Elmira’s 12-0 win at home over the Newark Pilots on Saturday. Murray made his second start of the season on Saturday and tallied 10 strikeouts with five hits, one walk and zero runs allowed in 6.0 innings of work. Through 14.0 innings pitched in 2023 (three appearances), Murray has yet to allow a run, and he has tallied 21 total strikeouts compared to just one walk.
