East Division Player of the Week: Andrew Amato, Saugerties Stallions
East Division Pitcher of the Week: Anthony Vargas, Boonville Lumberjacks
Saugerties Stallions outfielder Andrew Amato (Delaware) has been chosen as the East Division Player of the Week. He batted .526, hitting 4 home runs, with 12 RBIs, and led all players with 12 runs scored. It’s his second time winning this award this season.
He had two two-home run games during the stretch, the first one coming against Oneonta on July 17th, and the second being at Glens Falls on the 20th. He also picked up three hits in their most recent game this past Saturday.
Boonville’s Anthony Vargas (Eastern Kentucky) has been chosen as the East’s Pitcher of the Week. Since joining the team in July, Vargas has become one of the premier pitchers in the PGCBL.
Back on July 20, Vargas pitched eight innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out eleven in the win over Oneonta. In a 2-1 game, this pitching performance was as impactful as any other by a player this season.
