Jammers Walk Off for Game 1 Win

In a best-of-3-series to settle the PGCBL Championship, the Jamestown Jammers took game 1 over the Amsterdam Mohawks by a final score of 4-3. It was the Mohawks that jumped out to an early lead, hitting back to back home runs before Jamestown lawed back with 3 of their own. In the end, it was the Jammers that took this one in walk-off fashion. All 3 games will be played in Amsterdam, while Jamestown the higher seed will play as the home team games 1 and 3.

Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst) would lead the night at the plate for the Jammers, going 2 for 5 with a walk, a run, scored, and the game winning RBI. Chase Keng (UTSA) went 2 for 3 with a sacrifice fly. He would also get a run and an RBI. In the loss, Joe Genord (USF) went 2 for 4 with a solo home run.

Shane Muntz (Wake Forest) and Joe Genord hit back to back home runs in the top of the 2nd to put the Mohawks up 2 in the early going. The Mohawks run in the 5th inning came from a Michael Ludowig (Wake Forest) RBI single.

The Jammers scored 3 runs, each coming in consecutive innings. Jamestown scored in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings. A sacrifice fly by Chase Keng scored the first run. Brett Migliore (Canisius) hit an RBI single in the 5th inning and the Jammers took advantage of a wild pitch in the 6th to score their 3rd run.

All was quiet until the Jamestown Jammers loaded the bases in the 9th inning, where Alex O’Donnell would hit an RBI single to walk-off the game against the Amsterdam Mohawks.

Ryan Boyer (Pitt Bradford) records the win, while Blake Espinal (Seton Hall) takes the loss. The Jamestown Jammers and Amsterdam Mohawks will face-off again tomorrow and Wednesday if necessary. All games will be played at Shuttleworth Park, with start times set for 6:45 on both nights.
