Eight-Team Field Set for 2026 PGCBL Playoffs
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y – The 2026 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) regular season came to a close on Sunday evening, and the four top teams in each division will compete for the league championship trophy beginning Monday night with the quarterfinals round.
The Batavia Muckdogs secured the #1 seed in the West Division with a record of 29-10-1 and they will enter the postseason on a three-game winning streak, capping off their regular season with a 14-4 defeat of Niagara Falls. Batavia, the reigning champion of the West Division, led the way with nine mid-season All-Star selections last month.
The Muckdogs will host the fourth-seeded Auburn Doubledays at Dwyer Stadium tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. Batavia and Auburn split the season series, 2-2.
The #2 seed, Jamestown Tarp Skunks, will host the #3 seed, Elmira Pioneers, at 6:30 p.m. at Diethrick Park. The teams played just once this season due to weather cancellations, an 18-7 Jamestown win on July 5th in Elmira.
On the East side, the Amsterdam Mohawks finished the season with the best record in the league at 34-6-1. They led the league in nearly every offensive category, including home runs (71), RBI (452), total bases (869) and runs scored (500). The Mohawks called seven players mid-season all stars, and they will ride into the postseason on the back of a nine-game win streak in which they hit 19 home runs.
The Mohawks will host the fourth-seeded Oneonta Outlaws at Shuttleworth Park Monday night at 6:45 p.m. Amsterdam won the regular-season series versus the Outlaws 5-0-1.
The #2 seed and last year's champion, Saugerties Stallions, will host the #3 seed, Utica Blue Sox, at 6:30 p.m. at Cantine Field. The Stallions went 3-2 against the Blue Sox this season.
Postseason History
The 2026 season marks Batavia's fifth consecutive year as the West Division regular season champions, making them the leading team in western New York since their arrival to the PGCBL in 2021. Last season, they lost in the PGCBL league championship round to the Saugerties Stallions.
Jamestown now boasts playoff appearances in four of the last five seasons, however they are still hunting for their first league title representing the Tarp Skunks name. Last season, the Skunks made it to the semi-finals before losing to Batavia.
Elmira returns to the postseason after a one-year hiatus after clinching the final playoff spot in the West and jumping into the #3 seed by rallying with five runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Auburn on Sunday evening. Prior to missing out last year, the Pioneers made three consecutive playoff appearances, including trips to the league championship series in 2023 and 2024, both times falling to Amsterdam.
The Doubledays finished the final stretch of their season 4-6 and will settle into the #4 spot. No stranger to the postseason since being introduced to the league in 2021, Auburn has made the playoffs each year, but did not survive the quarterfinals last season, falling to the Muckdogs in the opening round.
Amsterdam completed their seventh consecutive season with 30+ wins and the Mohawks will look to regain the championship trophy after Saugerties interrupted their three-year title streak last year. The Mohawks currently boast the most championship titles in the league, with eight of the league's 14 total championship series.
The reigning champs in Saugerties defeated Utica in the first round last season and are set for a rematch with the Blue Sox in the same stage of competition. Since being founded and joining the league in 2015, the Stallions have taken home two titles, their first coming in 2021. In 2023 and 2024, they lost in the quarterfinals to the champion of each year, the Mohawks, before finally defeating them in the semi-finals amidst their 2025 championship run.
Utica finished their season winning nine of their last twelve and hoping to carry that momentum into Saugerties tomorrow night. They have been eliminated in the first round of the championship series each of the past two seasons after making it to the semifinals in both 2022 and 2023.
The Outlaws are in the postseason for the first time since 2022 after securing the final spot in the East bracket with a win over Boonville on the regular season's last day. As they did in 2022, Oneonta will draw the top seeded Amsterdam Mohawks, hoping to pull the upset.
