League-Champ Skipper Collin Martin Named 2025 PGCBL Coach of the Year
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Saugerties head coach Collin Martin can add another trophy to his case this season, as he has been voted by his peers as the 2025 PGCBL Coach of the Year.
Martin is in his eighth year with the Stallions and seventh as Head Coach. He was on the staff for Saugerties' last championship in 2021, when Rich Dubee became the first member of the franchise to win the Coach of the Year award.
Under Martin's leadership, the 2025 Stallions compiled a record of 28-13-1, clinching the #2 seed in the Eastern Division playoffs. After defeating third-seeded Utica in the first round, Saugerties went on the road and knocked off both the East's and West's #1 seed in extra innings affairs. They outlasted Batavia in a 17-inning thriller to clinch the second PGCBL championship in franchise history.
Along the way, the Stallions batted .287 as a team and led the league with 286 runs batted in. They were second in the PGCBL in runs scored (329), and third in extra base hits (99), total bases (543), and slugging percentage (.386). Saugerties used speed as a weapon under Martin, with their 154 stolen bases the most in the league by 25 over next-closest Auburn. Those 154 steals came on 174 attempts, a conversion rate of 88.5%.
The PGCBL Coach of the Year award is chosen by a vote across both divisions, with each team selecting one field manager from either the East or West as their nominee.
During the year, Martin resides in Babson Park, Florida, and is the head baseball coach for Webber International University. He has been with the program since 2017 and was made the second head coach in Webber International University history ahead of the 2020 campaign. With the Warriors, Martin has a record of 216-103 (.677 winning percentage) and led the team to Avista NAIA Baseball World Series appearances in 2022 and 2025.
