PGCBL Names Week 6 Award Winners
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y – As the 2025 PGCBL season rolls on into July, we are proud to announce the winners of the Week 6 Players and Pitchers of the Week. These players are being honored for their performances from July 7th through July 13th.
East Division
Co-Pitchers of the Week: Greg Nascimento, Utica (New Jersey Institute of Technology) & Luke Baker, Utica (Spring Hill College)
Player of the Week: Chris Hoalcraft, Amsterdam (St. Bonaventure)
The tandem of Nascimento and Baker are part of the reason that Utica is on a four-game winning streak. Each of them picked up victories during back-to-back wins over Boonville on July 10th and 11th.
Nascimento started the winning streak by throwing seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out six batters during a 10-2 Blue Sox road win. The next day, Baker picked up the mantle, leading Utica to a 4-2 victory at home with eight innings of no-run baseball. He scattered just six hits and one walk while improving his season ERA to 3.65.
Likewise, Hoalcraft has been a key cog in an Amsterdam lineup for a team that is also on a four-game winning streak and has won nine of their last ten games. Hoalcraft has seven hits in those past four games, including an 8-4 win over Saugerties on July 10th when he had three runs batted in and two runs scored. That game also featured one of his two home runs on the week, in which he batted .421 and slugged .789.
Through 31 games, Hoalcraft has hit .314 with 19 runs batted in, 30 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.
West Division
Pitcher of the Week: Pablo Sainz, Batavia (Columbia State Community College)
Player of the Week: Gavyn Boyle, Niagara Falls (Niagara County Community College)
Sainz earned his first win of the season with a six-inning gem on July 11th in a 3-2 Batavia win over Elmira. Sainz allowed just one hit and one walk over his six inning outing and struck out seven Pioneers on his way to the win. Sainz has made seven appearances for the Muckdogs, and has a 3.12 ERA over 26 innings pitched, with a 1.19 WHIP.
Boyle led the West Division with 9 hits and 16 total bases, slugging .800 while collecting two doubles, a triple and a home run. He drove in nine runs and scored seven times in a 4-2 week for the Americans. Boyle had five runs batted in including a triple and a homer in Niagara Falls' 21-9 win over Geneva on July 11th.
In 20 games, Boyle has a .306 average, three homers, 17 runs scored and 17 RBIs.
