NEW HARTFORD, N.Y – The Amsterdam Mohawks received their second straight accolade, while the Boonville Lumberjacks and Jamestown Tarp Skunks were also honored as the PGCBL announces the Pitchers and Players of the Week for Week 2 of the 2025 season.
East Division
Pitcher of the Week: Houston Tomlinson, Boonville (Texas A&M)
Player of the Week: Jayden Harriel, Amsterdam (Florida Atlantic University)
In his lone appearance this week, Tomlinson was brilliant, throwing eight innings and allowing just three hits and one run. He struck out four batters and earned the victory as the Lumberjacks defeated Utica 2-1.
Tomlinson carries a 1-0 record and a 2.25 ERA with 12.0 innings pitched and seven strikeouts in his two appearances with Boonville.
Harriel helped Amsterdam continue their hot start to the season (10-2) by collecting seven hits and scoring five runs in five games this week. He started off the week with three runs scored and a stolen base in Amsterdam's 12-11 win over Glens Falls on June 10th, then knocked in two runners the next day when Amsterdam defeated Oneonta 14-4.
For the season, the infielder is batting .409 with 16 runs batted in, tied for the most in the league, and 15 runs scored, good for joint second in that category.
West Division
Pitcher of the Week: Christian Pencek, Jamestown (Lincoln Memorial University)
Player: Justin Bremner, Jamestown (Canisius University)
Bremner led the way with 12 hits and 17 total bases this week, including two doubles and a home run, and drove in 11 runs in six games.
Currently on a seven-game hitting streak, Bremner had four multi-hit games this week, including a 3-6 day in which he doubled and drove in four runs as the Tarp Skunks beat Newark 13-8. Bremner was also 3-4 on stolen base attempts and crossed the plate three times.
Pencek threw nine scoreless innings for the Tarp Skunks this week and holds a 0.77 ERA and a .940 WHIP over 11.2 innings on the year.
The righty got the start on June 14th against Batavia and spun a gem, allowing just six hits (all singles) over eight scoreless frames. He struck out five and issued just one free pass. Earlier in the week, Pencek struck out two without allowing an earned run in a home game for Jamestown against Niagara Falls.
