SAUGERTIES, N.Y. –  The Saugerties Stallions continued their winning ways on Sunday and earned revenge over the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs.

Saugerties wasted no time jumping on the DiamondDawgs as they scored a run in every inning for four straight innings to open up the game.

Easton Bertrand was responsible for two of those runs with a triple in the first inning and a single in the third inning.

Brett Heckert was responsible for three more of those runs early with a sacrifice fly in the second inning and a two run single in the fourth.

The Stallions scored one run aside in each of the first three innings and broke out with four runs in the fourth inning.

While the Stallions’ bats were finding a rhythm, starting pitcher Coulson Buchannon pitched a season high five innings while striking out four in the process.

Buchannon would only allow two runs during that time which would be all the DiamondDawgs could muster throughout the game.

The Stallions were silenced until the eighth inning when Evan Goforth ripped a single to bring in Garrison Berkley for the final run of the game.

Goforth was one of two Stallions to record three hits during Sunday’s win.

The victory for the Stallions was the team’s sixth straight and put them back over .500 for the first time this season now sitting at 7-6.

The Stallions will have a day off on Monday before traveling to Mohawk Valley to take on the DiamondDawgs again.
