With several teams off tonight, the Tarp Skunks and Stallions still came to play. They each posted big nights offensively, leading the action.

Jamestown Tarp Skunks 20, Niagara Power 4

The Tarp Skunks quickly dispatched the Power’s first two pitchers. Both starter Ian Evans and his replacement Nick Lowe (York College) allowed five runs without making it out of their second inning. AJ Kinney (Fredonia State) provided four innings of stability in relief of Lowe but it was still an eleven-run deficit by the time he left. The game was sealed with an eight-run seventh inning due to River Hart’s four walks. Will Dorrell (Flo-Dar Tech CC) and Henry Martin (Wagner) each had three RBIs, and the former went two for four. Starter Patrick Demarco (Penn State) received the win after pitching more than five innings and allowing two earned runs.

Elmira Pioneers 9, Geneva Red Wings 5

Runs scored by Max Mandler (Seton Hall) and Ethan Errera (U-Mass Boston) in the first two innings put Elmira in the position to score three off of Nick Serce (Alfred State) in the third inning. After Errera added another in the fourth, Geneva needed to close the gap, trailing by six. They scored four off the starter Errera including a two-run single by Ozzie Fleischer (Tufts). The two sides traded blows in the seventh with a Frank Wayman (U-Mass Lowell) RBI single in the top and a home run for Shane Dux (Hamilton) in the bottom of the inning. Elmira tacked on two more in the ninth to widen their lead. Wayman and Mandler were the only Pioneers to record multiple RBIs, while Errera received the win for his five-inning performance.

Auburn DoubleDays 7, Newark Pilots 2

The Pilots took an early advantage when Kobe Mentzer (Union) scored in the first, and Alex Duffy (Elon) hit an RBI single in the second. In the third inning, Zane Roos (Jefferson) took advantage of a wild pitch, and Michael Cervantes (Louisiana Monroe) hit an RBI single to tie the game at two a piece. Auburn continued to add, starting in the fifth inning, where they scored five runs to close the game. On the pitching front, starter Lane Little (Louisiana Monroe) and the Auburn bullpen shut out Newark after the second inning. Little threw four innings to receive the win. After this outing, his ERA moves to 1.75. Another contributing factor in the Newark loss was their five errors, three of which were on third baseman Michael Doyle (NJIT).

Utica Blue Sox 8, Watertown Rapids 7

Utica held the advantage in the early part of the game due to a two-run second inning and a two-run home run by Ryan Maka (Valparaiso) in the third. Watertown then took the lead in the fourth inning after they tagged Utica starter Itai Spinoza (Elon) for six runs. Spinoza’s night finished in the fourth inning after allowing seven runs. Watertown’s success was short-lived as Clark Burroughs (Limestone) took the game back with a two-run single. Burroughs, Maka, and Avery Lee (Marshall) had multiple RBIs. The win went to Christian Hile (Marshall), who pitched four one-hit innings in relief.

Saugerties Stallions 17, Glens Falls Dragons 4

After Glens Falls struck first with a two-run first inning, Saugerties charged back with two runs in the second inning and a five-run third that included a two-run home run by Garrett Michel (Virginia Tech). Now trailing by six, Glens Falls added two runs in the fifth inning by a fielder’s choice and a passed ball. Saugerties then put Glens Falls away with a four-hit, nine-run seventh inning. Brett Heckert (Pittsburgh) drove in three runs for the Stallions, while Evan Goforth (Indiana) went three for three and scored four times. The Stallions had 30 runners on the basepath in the game. Alex Canney (Tampa) received the win, going four innings without allowing an earned run.
