No.1 Jammers Beat No. 4 Flames, 3-2, in ExtrasJAMESTOWN, N.Y. - In a thrilling first round matchup, the Jamestown Jammers won 3-2 on a walk-off single by John Conti (Canisius) to beat the Onondaga Flames in the bottom of the 11th. The top-seeded Jammers will play the No. 3 Elmira Pioneers tomorrow in the West Division Championship Series opener at Diethrick Park, beginning at 7:05 p.m. The Flames took an early by scoring one run in the top of the first, as Trey Baur (Cornell) singled and later scored when Sam Little (Ithaca) doubled to make it 1-0 Flames. In the top of the fourth the Flames added another run to make it 2-0 Flames when Alex Canty (Monroe CC) singled that scored a run. The Jammers would tie the game up in the bottom of the frame as they scored two runs on two hits. Chris Estrada (UTSA) would get the inning started with a single, Matt Cross (NCCC) would reach on an error and Christ Conley (Canisius) would walk to load the bases. John Conti (Canisius) would ground out to score Estrada and Ben Brookover (UTSA) would single to bring home the second run of the inning to level the score at 2-2 after four innings. The pitching staffs on both teams were outstanding. The Jammers' starter, David Lyskawa (NCCC), went 7.0 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits with two strikeouts. The Flames' starter, Justin Beyer (NCCC), went 4.2 innings and allowed two unearned runs on five hits and struck out three. Possibly the most impressive performance of the night came from Isaac Meza (CSU Bakersfield), who came out of the bullpen and picked up the win by throwing 4.0 shutout innings, allowing only one hit and striking out two. Each team had their chances but the Jammers would prevail in the bottom of the 11th, as Matt Cross (NCCC) singled and pinch runner Christian Deaton (CSU Bakersfield) would later score on John Conti's (Canisius) RBI base hit. Conti was the hero for the Jammers, as he ripped a single up the middle to score Deaton and send the Jammers to next round of the playoffs.
