JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Jamestown Jammers starting pitcher Connor Ryan (Mercyhurst) had a strong outing to pace the Jammers to a 4-1 victory over the Adirondack Trail Blazers on Sunday at Diethrick Park.
The Jammers have clinched first place in the West Division and improve to 33-15. The Adirondack Trail Blazers fall to 16-32.
The Jammers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Christ Conley (Canisius) led the inning off with a bunt base hit, after back to back walks loaded the bases, a wild pitch brought Conley home to make it 1-0.
Ryan kept the Trail Blazers offense in check as he went 6 strong innings, allowing only 1 run (1 Earned) on 5 hits and striking out 9. The Trail Blazers' starter, Joe Hamrick (Hillsdale), also had a nice outing as he threw 5.0 innings allowing 1 run (1 Earned) on 4 hits and striking out 1.
In the bottom of the 6th the Jammers added 2 runs on 1 hit. 2 walks got thing inning started for the Jammers as Nick Bernick (Niagara) had in RBI double to make it 2-0 and John Conti (Canisius) grounded out with 1 out that scored Christian Deaton (UC Bakersfield). 3-0 Jammers after 6.
The Trail Blazers would score in the top of the 7th as Bay McIntosh (Florida Tech) singled home a run to cut the lead to 3-1, but the Jammers would get that run right back in the bottom of the 7th as Jimmy Standohar (Mercyhurst) reached first on a bunt single and would advance to third on an errant throw by the pitcher. Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst) would drive him in with a single to right that increased the Jammers lead to 4-1 over.
Bradley Griggs (UTSA) would close it out and pick up his first save of the season.
