McKinney Looks Sharp in 7-2 Victory at SaugertiesSAUGERTIES, N.Y. - On Saturday night the Saugerties Stallions were defeated by the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 7-2 at Cantine Field, thanks in part of Jonathan McKinney's (Southern Union State C.C.) shutout start on the mound for the 'Dawgs. The slumping Stallions are trying to get back on track tonight and finish out the the remainder of the season strong, as they currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot by only three and a half games over the Utica Blue Sox in the East division of the PGCBL (Perfect Game College Baseball League). Saugerties’ John Clayton (Albany) pitched a quality six innings tonight by only allowing three runs. It just wasn't enough tonight as Mohawk Valley’s Jonathan McKinney (Southern Union State C.C.) pitched a gem for the DiamondDawgs. Jonathan McKinney pitched 7.1 IP 6 H 0 R 4 K 2 BB In the second inning, Bronson Grubbs (Sacramento State) was able to get on base with a single. He then scored after Nico Ramos (Siena) was able to hit an RBI double. In Jesse Uttendorfer’s (NJIT) first game as a Stallion he ended the inning by throwing out a DiamondDawg at the plate all the way from right field. Then in the following inning, Russ Olive () drove in Tim Zeng (Fairfield) with an RBI single. Ben Porter (Siena) also drove in a run as Clay Koniencki (Dartmouth) scored. The next run wasn't scored until the top of the seventh inning. After John Clayton walked the bases loaded, he ended up walking in the DiamondDawgs fourth run. The DiamondDawgs broke this game open in the eighth inning as the exploded for four runs. Dan Deely (Sacramento State) hit an RBI single. Russ Olive (UMass Lowell) then hit a two RBI double.
In the bottom of the ninth inning the Stallions were able to start a two out rally. With two outs Pat Lagravinese (Albany) hit a double. Jeff Palczewski (Buffalo) then hit an RBI double. Justin Tuey (Le Moyne) then hit a single. Jesse Uttendorfer (NJIT) then drove in a run with a single to left field. With that loss the Stallions record drops to 15-19. The Stallions next game is tomorrow, July 16th as they travel up to Albany to take on the Dutchmen. |
