GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Glens Falls Dragons (11-23) continued their dominance at home Thursday night, defeating the Albany Dutchmen (20-12) 7-3.
The Dragons pioneered the night’s scoring in the bottom of the first, after Brandon Torres (Oneonta) stole home on a wild pitch.
That would prove to be the only run scored until early in the fifth inning, where the Dutchmen responded to take the lead off of a single from Brad Gneiting (Rice), making the score 2-1 Albany.
Later in the inning, Jared Morello (St. Joseph’s) tripled to bring in two runners, giving the Dragons the lead again with a score of 3-2. Moments later, Anthony Vaglica (LIU Post) notched an RBI to bring in Morello, sending the inning to a close with Glens Falls ahead by two runs.
The Dragons added to their lead in the bottom of the seventh, where a single from Ryan Beamish (Lee) brought in a runner and made the score 6-2.
Glens Falls notched another run late in the eighth, increasing their lead to 5 runs.
Dutchman Chris Villa (Seton Hall) crossed the plate in the ninth off a wild pitch. The inning, and the game, ended 7-3 in favor of the Dragons.
The winning pitcher was Brandon Budlong (Johnson & Wales), and Tommy Miller (Siena) took the loss on the mound. Robert Paccione (LIU Post) earned a save.
The Dragons return to East Field tomorrow at 7PM to take on the Saugerties Stallions.
