JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Jammers are now 20 games over .500, as they beat the Oneonta Outlaws 9-2 on Sunday and improved to 26-6 on the season.
The Outlaws scored first in the top of the 2nd by scoring 2 runs on 2 hits as Ben Dubas (Alvernia) drove in 2 runs with a single. This lead however, was short lived as the Jammers would go on to score in the next 5 innings.
In the bottom of the 2nd the Jammers cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning, when Skyler Valentine (UTSA) doubled and later scored on an RBI ground out. In the bottom of the 3rd the Jammers would tie the game up by again adding a run, when Ben Brookover (UTSA) tripled home a run to even the score at 2.
The Jammers would take the lead in the bottom of the 4th with 3 straight hits (Stack, Standohar, Conti) to start the inning that would result in 2 runs in the inning and take a 4-2 lead over the Outlaws.
It was more Jammers in the bottom of the 5th as they broke the game open by scoring 4 runs on 4 hits. This inning was highlighted by a Chris Estrada’s (UTSA) Double, Collin Stack’s (UMBC) RBI Triple, and Jimmy Standohar’s (Mercyhurst) RBI Double. This 4-run inning put the Jammers up 8-2.
The Jammers added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th when Chris Estrada (UTSA) scored on a sac fly by Collin Stack (UMBC). The Jammers bullpen would take care of the rest as the final score would end up 9-2 Jammers.
Starting pitcher Bradley Griggs (UTSA) improved his record to 3-1 on the by going 6 strong innings allowing 2 runs (0 Earned) on 4 hits and striking out 4. The Jammers bullpen was flawless as Casey Vincent (St. Bonaventure), Nolan Hunt (Canisius), and Chris Stefl (St. John's) all threw a scoreless inning allowing only 1 hit.
