JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jammers continue their historic start as they defeat the Elmira Pioneers 5-3 and improve to 23-5 on the season, the best record in PGCBL.
The Pioneers took an early lead as they scored 2 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 4th, Marshall Gilbert (John A Logan) led things off with a single, followed by a double by Ayrton Schafer (Samford) that scored Marshall. Allbry Major (Xavier) also had an extra base hit in the inning as he connected for an RBI double. This put the Pioneers up 2-0 in the top of the 4th.
The Pioneers in the top of the 5th were again able to score as they added another run to their lead, via a sac fly by Troy Dixon (Samford) that scored Brett Rodriguez (Wofford) to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead.
The Jammers answered back in the bottom of the frame by platting 2 runs on 3 hits. Things got started by a triple Christian Deaton (Cal St Bakersfield). The next batter Matt Cross (NCCC) doubled to score Deaton and then Chris Estrada (UTSA) singled Cross home to put a crooked number on the board and cut the lead 3-2 Pioneers.
In the bottom of the 6th the Jammers were again able to put up a crooked number as they scored 2 runs and take the lead 4-3. Collin Stack (UMBC) had the big hit of the inning as he signled home 2 runs and gave the Jammers a 4-3 lead.
The Jammers added an insurance run in the bottom of the 7th as Chris Estrada (UTSA) doubled home a run to put the Jammers up 5-3. This would end up being the final score as the Jammers bullpen was able to shut the door.
The Jammers won their 23rd game of the season, which is the best record in the PGCBL. The Pioneers fall to an even .500 at 14-14.
