GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Glens Falls Dragons (9-15) defeated the Saugerties Stallions (6-17) 13-5 Monday night at The Cave in Glens Falls in front of a season-high July 4th eve crowd. With the win the Dragons are now an impressive 9-2 at East Field on the season.
The Dragons opened the scoring with a triple from Brian Uliana (Rider) who scored on a single from Ryan Beamish (Lee University).
The Stallions responded in the third with two runs on RBI singles by Matt Feinstein (Dartmouth) and Jack Gonzalez (Stetson).
The Dragons regained control with three runs in the bottom of the inning and continued scoring for the next 4 innings. Glens Falls ran away from the Stallions when they scored four runs in the 5th inning, two of those runs coming off the bat of Brandon Torres (SUNY Oneonta).
Torres and Anthony Vaglica (LIU-Post) each drove in two runs to lead the Dragons. Torres hit a solo home-run in the Bottom 7th. Mark Powell (St. Rose) also had a pair of safeties for Glens Falls.
Tyler Mattison (Bryant) went five innings to earn the win for Glens Falls. Mattison scattered seven hits, yielding three earned runs, while striking out four and walking just two. Mattison is now 2-1 on the season.
The Dragons return to East Field Friday for a doubleheader against the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs. The first game begins at 5:00 p.m.
