Pioneers Late Rally Cut Short By Dragons

After the Jammers held off the Pioneers last night, Elmira looked to bounce back against the East Division Glens Falls Dragons.

After Brian Kelly (Siena) got the Pio’s going with a RBI single to get a quick 1-0 lead in the first, the Glens Falls Dragons answered back all throughout the game, spreading out seven runs in six innings.

It was not until the seventh inning until the Pioneers rallied with two outs in the top half. Taking advantage of a couple of Dragon errors, Ty Denzer (Kansas), Joe Preziuso (Canisius) and Zeke Lewis (Kentucky) came around to score to cut the lead 7-4.

Lucas Denney (Seattle U.) shortened the lead of the Dragons 7-5 with a RBI single. The Dragons would answer back with a run of their own to pad their lead to 8-5.

That would be the eventual final score as Matt Stoikov (Northwood U.) of the Dragons notched the save. Pioneers pitcher Andrew Sipowicz (Canisius) receives the loss while fellow Canisius pitcher Andrew Knussle of the Dragons earns the win.
