RailRiders fall on Independence Day

Hunter Losekamp collected three hits, sparking the Utica Blue Sox (20-8) to a 9-7 victory over the Victor RailRiders (11-16) on Monday at Victor High School.  Losekamp had three RBI on the day after singles in the second, fifth, and seventh innings.  Franklin Jennings and Anthony Young also finished the day with three hits for the Blue Sox.

A valiant effort to overcome a 6-run deficit came up short for Victor.  The Railriders were down 8-2 headed into the bottom of the eighth, then proceeded to score five straight runs to come within one run of tying the game.  The Blue Sox then added another run in the ninth to secure the victory.  Nick Russo helped to lead the offense for the RailRiders, finishing with a double and three RBI.

Chad Burrows put together a nice outing on the mound for the Blue Sox. Burrows allowed just one hit, one earned run, and struck out three during his five innings of work.  Brian Reed took the loss for the RailRiders.  He allowed seven runs in his seven innings of work, walking three and striking out six.
