The Pioneers got off to a great start as Troy Dixon (Samford) scored on a fielding error by the Outlaws. After that a Phil Madonna (Siena) RBI double and a two RBI single by Connor Burns (Samford) put the Pioneers up by four. The Outlaws would put up two runs in the bottom of the first to cut the score 4-2.
Burns would again plate two runs with an RBI single but the Outlaws would score four runs capitalizing on a couple of Elmira miscues and well timed hits which would tie the score at six runs apiece entering the fourth inning.
The Outlaws would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth plating two runs to take a 8-6 lead.
Kyle Ruth (LIU Brooklyn) would single in a run to bring the Pioneers within striking distance of the Outlaws who lead 8-7.
The Pioneers would build off of the previous inning to score three runs on RBI singles from Lucas Denney (Seattle U.), Phil Madonna and Kyle Ruth to take the lead again 10-8 in the top of the seventh.
The bullpen was lights out for Elmira as Zach Helsel (Liberty U.), Cody Thompson (Randolph Macon) and Parker Caracci (Ole Miss) finally quieted the Outlaw bats to secure the win.
Caracci earns his fifth save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth striking out one batter and Helsel earns the win pitching two innings, giving up one hit, no runs and striking out one batter. Mark Giallanzo (St. Bonaventure) receives the loss for the Outlaws pitching one inning giving up three runs on three hits and walked two batters.
