Elmira Pioneers to Host IAC Small/Large School Championship

Elmira, N.Y. – The Elmira Pioneers are keeping Historic Dunn Field active this spring as area high school baseball teams will take to the field. For the fourth straight year Fans in the Twin Tiers will have the opportunity to see a champion crowned as the IAC will host the large/small school championship games at Historic Dunn Field.
 
Thursday, May 12th it will be the areas large schools taking the field at 5:30 P.M. & the areas small schools will be in action approximately 20 minutes after the completion of the first game. Should rain become a factor for the either of the scheduled games, they would then be played the following day Friday, May 13th with the time(s) to be determined at a later date.
 
“Hosting this tournament is another way that we can keep Historic Dunn Field as busy as possible during the spring months leading-up to the start of the Pioneers season. We will continue to host these types of events along with a variety of other events to keep the ballpark buzzing.” stated Pioneers owner Robbie Nichols.

Last year’s IAC baseball tournament was a huge hit among fans in the Twin Tiers and is sure to entertain fans once again this spring at Historic Dunn Field. The IAC baseball tournament will showcase some of the Twin Tiers and surrounding areas best youth talent. “Robbie and I are very excited about bringing high school baseball tournaments to Historic Dunn Field and allowing young players to be able to play under the lights at the ballpark.” stated Pioneers owner Don Lewis.
Tickets for all ages can be purchased for $5.00 and the Dunn Field concession stand will be open to serve food throughout both games. The Pioneers ask that fans please refrain from bringing any outside food or beverages into the stadium.
 
The Pioneers are prepared to once again pack Dunn Field after finishing second nationwide in total attendance a season-ago with an average of 3,100-plus fans per game. The Pioneers home opener is set for Saturday, June 4th vs the Jamestown Jammers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and there will be plenty of entertainment for fans including Elmira Business Institute batting helmets for kids along with a huge post game FIREWORK SHOW!!
