The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League announced Tuesday that its board of directors formally awarded owners Michael Schell and Paul Velte a summer collegiate baseball franchise, which will begin play in June 2018 at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds in Watertown.

The decision, which was made Saturday, comes after Mayor Joseph M. Butler Jr. announced at an Oct. 19 City Council meeting that plans were being formulated to bring baseball back to the city.
