Friday's Scheduled Games

Geneva Red Wings at Elmira Pioneers
Dunn Field - Doubleheader

The only doubleheader of the day in the PGCBL will also serve as one of the more important battles in the league, as Geneva and Elmira are currently tied for second in the PGCBL West. The first game of the doubleheader will pick up in the bottom of the eighth inning, with Geneva leading 8-1 as the home team. That game was suspended due to darkness on Monday night, and will be followed by the regularly scheduled contest. On the season, the Red Wings lead the Pioneers, 4-3.

Utica Blue Sox at Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs
Veterans Memorial Park - 6:45 PM

With three teams within 1.5 games of the top spot, the PGCBL Central has developed into the league's most competitive divisional race. Mohawk Valley leads both Utica and Watertown by 1.5 games, with all three teams holding 20 wins or more. The Utica Blue Sox have won three straight games, while a loss to Watertown trimmed Mohawk Valley's lead in the division down to the aforementioned game and a half. Utica holds a 5-4 lead in the season series this year, with just two games remaining, including Friday night's tilt.

Oneonta Outlaws at Glens Falls Dragons
East Field - 7:05 PM

Friday night marks the seventh meeting of the season between the Glens Falls Dragons and the Oneonta Outlaws, with the final game of the season between the two teams scheduled for July 31 at Damaschke Field in Oneonta. The Outlaws were the only team in the PGCBL that did not play the day after the PGCBL All-Star Game, while the Dragons dropped a narrow decision to the first place Amsterdam Mohawks, losing 9-8 at Shuttleworth Park.

Jamestown Jammers at Newark Pilots
Colburn Park - 7:05 PM

With a victory, or a split in the doubleheader between Elmira and Geneva, the Jamestown Jammers will clinch the West Division championship for the second season in a row. Newark, despite their 12-21 record, enters the contest very much in playoff contention, and could move into a tie for third place with a win and a sweep from either team in the Elmira-Geneva doubleheader. The Pilots snapped a five game losing streak against the Jammers in their last meeting. Friday's game is the first of four between the teams in the next eight days.

Adirondack Trail Blazers at Watertown Rapids
Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds - 7:05 PM

After running up a 12-4 victory over first place Mohawk Valley on Thursday night, the Watertown Rapids host the Adirondack Trail Blazers at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. The Rapids are locked in a battle for the two likely playoff spots in the PGCBL Central, while the Trail Blazers sit five games behind second place after three consecutive losses. Each of the last two games between the Rapids and the Blazers have been high-scoring, with 51 runs scored in the two games combined (a 13-10 Adirondack win and a 15-13 Watertown win).
