After a day with only one game, the PGCBL returns to a fuller slate with ten of its 13 teams in action, including a battle for first place in the East Division.
Tuesday's Scheduled Games
Adirondack Trail Blazers at Amsterdam Mohawks
Amsterdam enters Tuesday having won four of five games, which has pulled the Mohawks within one game of first place Glens Falls in the PGCBL East. The game matched Adirondack and Amsterdam for the first time this season, with the only other meeting scheduled for June 27 at the Robert Smith Sports Complex in Boonville. The pitching matchup will see Adirondack's Brett Lubreski (NJIT) face Amsterdam righty Brendan McNerney (RPI) at Shuttleworth Park, where the Mohawks are 4-2.
Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at Watertown Rapids
The top two teams in the Central Division battle in Watertown, as the DiamondDawgs look to gain ground and the Rapids attempt to more distance between themselves and the field. Watertown has taken two games in Little Falls this season, and the next four games in the season series will all be at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. Tyler Schoff (Bryant) will look to become the second PGCBL pitcher with three wins this season, and will match up with Watertown righthander Addison Pawelek (Wayne State).
Albany Dutchmen at Glens Falls Dragons
First place in the East Division will be on the line, as rivals Glens Falls and Albany meet for the third time this season. The series to date has been split, with the road team taking both contests. Tuesday's game marks the first of two games this week, with another trip to East Field scheduled for Friday. A pair of second-year PGCBL pitchers will take the mound in this game, with Deaven Phillips (Tampa) going for the Dutchmen and Tom Taplin (Georgetown College) climbing the mound for Glens Falls.
Oneonta Outlaws at Elmira Pioneers
A cross-divisional matchup sees the 6-5 Outlaws travel west for a game with the 4-10 Pioneers. Oneonta is in the middle of the most competitive division in the PGCBL thus far, as the Outlaws are one of three teams within one game of the lead in the PGCBL East. Elmira is looking to move back into third place in the PGCBL West with a victory at home. On the road, the Outlaws will send Matt Bowman (SUNY Oswego) to the mound for his first start of the season.
Saugerties Stallions at Geneva Red Wings
Saugerties and Geneva play for the first time this season in an East vs. West matchup. The teams will play twice this season, with the Stallions getting their turn to host on July 7 at Cantine Field. The road team has won four of the last five games involving the Stallions, including in each of the past three games. Nick Zwack (Xavier), who has struck out 17 hitters in ten innings this season, receives the starting nod for the Stallions on the road.
