The PGCBL season continues on Saturday night with six games, with all three division leaders in action.
Saturday's Scheduled Games
Saugerties Stallions at Albany Dutchmen
The Dutchmen will look to continue their dominance over the Saugerties Stallions at Connors Park in the first game on the Saturday schedule. Albany has scored 18 runs in two victories over the Stallions, both of which have come in Saugerties. The first place Dutchmen will send Southern New Hampshire righthander Zachary Merchant to the mound to face Saugerties' Zach Strickland, a righthander from Georgia Southern.
Jamestown Jammers at Amsterdam Mohawks
The team with the best record in the PGCBL will travel east to meet the team with the longest active winning streak when the 10-2 Jamestown Jammers face the Amsterdam Mohawks, winners of three consecutive contests. The Mohawks, who will hand the ball to Trip Lockhart (Kentucky), took a 8-6 victory on Wednesday over the Jammers, who will counter with Zach Sanders, a righty out of Peachtree City, Georgia and Tusculum.
Newark Pilots at Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs
Mohawk Valley welcomes the Newark Pilots to Veteran's Memorial Park for a cross-divsional matchup between the first PGCBL champion and the defending PGCBL champions. The DiamondDawgs won the first meeting between the teams, 9-7, back on June 2. Saturday's game is the lone game that will be played in Little Falls, with the series finale coming at Colburn Park on June 28.
Geneva Red Wings at Elmira Pioneers
In the day's only matchup between West Division foes, the Elmira Pioneers will look to snap a five game losing streak, the longest current streak of any kind in the PGCBL. Geneva has won all three meetings between the Red Wings and the Pioneers, but each game has been played at McDonough Park in Geneva. Beginning Saturday, four of the final six meetings between the teams will be played at Dunn Field in Elmira.
Watertown Rapids at Glens Falls Dragons
For the second day in a row, the Glens Falls Dragons will attempt to take over first place in the PGCBL East. On Saturday, the Dragons will face a stiff challenge in the form of the first place Rapids, who hold the second best record in the league. It is the first of two meetings between the teams, with a trip to Watertown scheduled for July 16. The pitching matchup pits Watertown's Jack Buckley (Franklin and Marshall) against Glens Falls' Sal Fusco (UMass Lowell)
Utica Blue Sox at Adirondack Trail Blazers
The Utica Blue Sox are the only team in the Central Division to enter Saturday on a winning streak, following back-to-back wins over Mohawk Valley. The Blue Sox will look to win their third consecutive contest, while the Adirondack Trail Blazers are looking to avoid a third straight loss after two consecutive wins. John Polichetti (UMass Lowell), who allowed just one earned run in 5.2 innings last week against Utica, is scheduled to climb the hill for the Trail Blazers.
