WATERTOWN-Dustin Exford (NE Oklahoma A&M) struck out with the tying run on second as Watertown (16-22) lost to Albany (18-19) 2-0. Blake Smith (Morehead St.) got the win (2-1) while Ryan Dunn (Cal Poly Pomona) took the loss (1-4).
Dunn gave up two runs on 12 hits in seven innings. He allowed both runs in the first and worked out of multiple jams the rest of the game. Smith retired the first ten Wizards he faced. He gave up four hits in 7.1 innings.
Both teams brought in their closers in the eighth. J.P. Perez (St. Mary’s (Tx.)) gave up two hits and struck out two in two innings. Trevor Lacrosse (Bryant) also gave up two hits in 1.2 innings. He had two runners on in both frames and was able to work out of it each time.
Three Dutchmen had multi-hit games. Adam Young (UC-Davis) went 3-for-5 with a run scored. No Watertown player tallied more than one hit. Derek Hagy (UT-Pan American) went 1-for-3 with a walk.
Watertown takes on Newark at home tomorrow at 5:00 PM. Albany heads to Glens Falls to face the Golden Eagles at 7:00 PM.
