WATERTOWN-Rene Solis (St. Mary’s (TX.)) ended his season with Watertown in style. He retired the last eighteen batters he faced as he and his team defeated Elmira 6-4. Solis got the win (4-1) while Matt Holling (Hofstra) took the loss (1-2). Jonathan Perez (St. Mary’) nails down his fourth save.
The southpaw went seven innings and struck out eight. His only blemish was a solo home run given up to Spencer Brann (UC-Davis) in the second.
He got help from his lineup. Donald Walter (Cal Poly Pomona), Derek Hagy (UT-Pan American) and Brandon Roush (UT-Pan American) tallied multi-hit games. Walter and Jordan Enos (Holy Cross) each knock in two runners.
Elmira scored three in the ninth to get within two runs. Perez came in with the go-ahead run at the plate and retires the next three batters. Landon Prentiss (VCU) recorded two RBIs.
Watertown is back home tomorrow against Glens Falls. Elmira is back on the road at Oneonta. Both games are scheduled for 7:00 PM.
