WATERTOWN-Watertown (14-21) scored 18 runs on 20 hits on its way to a 18-1 win over Cooperstown (9-25). Matt McClain (St. Mary’s (TX)) got the win (3-2), while Raleigh Rushing (Cypress) took the loss (2-2).
Cooperstown started off the scoring with a run in the second. The game was then delayed nearly a half-an-hour due to rain. When it picked up, The Wizards turned on the offense. They scored 14 runs over the next five innings.
McClain went seven innings and struck out seven. He allowed one run on four hits. Rushing gave up eight runs in 2.2 innings.
Every Watertown player tallied hit. Donald Walter (Cal Poly Pomona) led all Wizards with a 4-for-5 night. He had five RBI’s and scored three times. Chris Blanton (Cal Monterey Bay) went 2-for-5 for Cooperstown and scored the team’s only run.
Watertown is back home tomorrow against Elmira. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Cooperstown is home to Oneonta Tuesday at 5:00 PM.
