WATERTOWN-Watertown (11-17) gave ups eight runs (one earned) to begin the game and could never rebound. It falls to Mohawk Valley (12-13) 15-1. Joe Michaud (Bryant) got the win (4-1), while Mike Peters (Alcorn St.) took the loss (0-2).
A wild pitch, two passed balls and two errors led to the runs in the first three innings. Mohawk Valley took advantage of the mistakes. The big hit was a two-run ground rule double in the second by Tyler Hall (Herkimer C.C.) He finished 2-5 on the night with two runs scored, but it was Tyler Heck (Union) who had the best night of all. He went 3-6 with three runs scored, two RBI’s and three stolen bases.
Michaud was lights out. He didn’t allow a run in seven innings and struck out eight. Peters was hurt by some shaky fielding. He gave up seven runs (one earned) in two innings, walked two and struck out four. Three relievers combined to finish the game.
Watertown is on the road until next Monday because of the Jefferson County Fair. The team plays at Newark tomorrow at 7:05 PM. Mohawk Valley heads to Elmira to take on the Pioneers. That game also starts at 7:05 PM.
