Elmira, NY- A crowd of 3,843 turned out to Dunn Field on Wednesday hoping to see the Pioneers pick up their seventh win of 2012. Elmira would face a dominant pitcher in Rene Solis (St. Mary’s-Texas) as he would have the Pioneers number through the night as Watertown used an early offensive surge to pick up the 12-2 victory.

Carson Bryant (Chattanooga State C.C) made his fourth start of the season looking to pick up his first win of 2012. The Wizards offense would click early in the game as Donald Walter (Cal Poly Pomona) would lead off the game with his first of two solo home runs on the night. Leading 3-0 heading into the third inning, Watertown would open the flood gates as they batted around in the inning and tacked seven more runs onto the scoreboard to make it 10-0.

Elmira would get onto the board in the fourth inning as Aaron Nardone (Delaware State) drove a ball deep over the right field fence for his third home run of the season. Matt Goreham (Northeastern) would enter in the fifth inning for Elmira and would pitch three great innings of relief as he scattered two hits in three innings of work.

The Pioneers would round out the scoring in the eighth inning as Clark Wise (Wofford) picked up a pinch hit single that would score Steven Patterson (San Joaquin Delta) from second base to make it 12-2. With the loss Bryant falls to 0-2 on the season and Solis improves to 2-1 on the season.

Elmira will be in action at home on Thursday, June 28th as the Cooperstown Hawkeyes square off against the Pioneers at 7:05 pm. Fans in attendance will receive a free cowbell courtesy of Party Time.
