Recap - Outlaws down DutchmenThe Oneonta Outlaws came into town and cruised to a victory against the Dutchmen at Bellizzi Field on Father's Day. Albany woke up for four runs in the 8th, but it was too little, too late as Oneonta hit early and often en route to a 10-4 win. The Outlaw starting pitcher, Brett Lisle (Virginia), dominated the Albany hitters all night long, as picked up the victory. He finished with a line of 7 2/3 innings pitched, 6 hits allowed, 3 earned runs, and 4 strikeouts. He started to run into trouble in the 8th, when Jack Wietlispach (Parkland) hit a home run over the left field wall to give Albany their first run of the game, but at that point, the result was already well in hand. Dutchmen starter Austin Chase (UAlbany) struggled from the start, as Oneonta scored two runs in the first, and added another three in the third, to knock Chase out of the game. He took the loss while only lasting five innings, and giving up 10 hits while only striking out one. Oneonta recorded a hit from every slot of their lineup and were led by their catcher Shane Crain (Louisville), who had three hits, including a no-doubter home run to left center field in the third inning. Logan Brown (Baylor) added three hits of his own out of the 2-hole and Zac Johnson (Illinois State) smoked the ball for two hits, including a triple. It was a day where all of the Oneonta bats were clicking as they improved their record to 5-3. The only multi-hit game for the Dutchmen was by first basemen Ben Douglas (Southern Idaho), who singled twice for a Albany lineup that was quiet for most of the game. Albany fell to 5-4 and lost their first game at home this season. They travel to Amsterdam tomorrow to play the Mohawks at 7pm. |
