Newark Returns Four From Championship Team![]() Sean Osterman hits the game-winning home run for the Newark Pilots in Game 2 of the 2011 PGCBLCS (Photo courtesy Steve Plopper/Newark Pilots) Catcher Adam Grace, outfielder Sean Osterman, and pitchers Mike Saunders and Andrew Tidwell will return to Colburn Park for the 2012 season, which begins on Wednesday, June 6 at 7 p.m. when Watertown plays host to Newark. Grace played in 26 regular season games, starting 22 of them behind the plate. He was second in the PGCBL with 12 base runners caught stealing. Grace drove in 10 runs on 17 hits. He started four games at catcher and one as the designated hitter in the playoffs. The Niagara Falls, N.Y. native is currently a sophomore at Erie Community College. Osterman is a junior outfielder at St. John Fisher College. He joined the team late in the regular season, starting 15 games. He batted .255 with four doubles and one triple, and was a perfect 4-4 in stolen base attempts. The Pittsford, N.Y. native made his biggest impact in the playoffs. In Game 3 of the West Division Championship against Cooperstown, Osterman hit a three-run double into right field en route to a 4-3 win. In the top of the 11th inning in Game 2 of the PGCBL Championship Series against Amsterdam, Osterman knocked the game-winning homerun over the left field wall. Saunders and Tidwell are teammates at Saginaw Valley State University. Saunders earned three wins in 10 appearances, including six starts. He collected 41 strikeouts in 43.2 innings pitched. The right-hander from Mount Morris, Mich. also fanned 13 batters in two postseason appearances. Originally from Canton, Mich., Tidwell signed with the Pilots in early July and made six appearances on the mound with one start. He went 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA, also earning a save. The right-handed sophomore earned the decisive win in Game 3 of the PGCBL Championship Series, allowing two earned runs in six innings with three strikeouts. The Pilots return to Colburn Park for the home opener on June 7 at 7:05 p.m. against the Oneonta Outlaws.
