PGCBL Daily Roundup: July 31, 2018On the final night of the regular season, it's win or go home for the Watertown Rapids in the PGCBL Central. Monday's Results Tuesday's Scheduled Games Saugerties Stallions at Watertown Rapids In the inaugural season of the Watertown Rapids, the entire season comes down to one game. With a win, the Rapids will clinch a playoff spot, and will head to Little Falls for a matchup with the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs in the First Round of the PGCBL Playoffs. A win by the Saugerties Stallions will send the Utica Blue Sox to the playoffs after a one year hiatus. If the game is not played for any reason, the Blue Sox would advance to the playoffs by virtue of their head to head record against the Rapids. Albany Dutchmen at Amsterdam Mohawks Consider Tuesday night's game a dress rehearsal for the Dutchmen and the Mohawks. Amsterdam and Albany are set to return to Shuttleworth Park on Wednesday in the First Round of the PGCBL Playoffs. With a win or a Mohawk Valley loss, Albany will finish with the third best record in the PGCBL. Jamestown Jammers at Geneva Red Wings Both the Jammers and the Red Wings are playing postseason baseball, and could meet up in the PGCBL Semifinals. Jamestown earned a first round bye with their win at home on Monday, while Geneva will host the Elmira Pioneers on Wednesday night. The winner of the Geneva-Elmira game will play Jamestown in the Semifinals. Glens Falls Dragons at Oneonta Outlaws Despite neither team making the postseason, Tuesday night's game still holds some meeting for the Dragons and the Outlaws. The winner of the game will take fourth place in the PGCBL East, avoiding the cellar. Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at Adirondack Trail Blazers The Central Division champions will take to the road on the final day of the regular season. Mohawk Valley knows they will be at home on Wednesday night, and will be watching the scoreboard to see if they are playing Watertown or Utica. Newark Pilots at Elmira Pioneers Jamestown's victory over Geneva on Tuesday night sealed Elmira's spot in the PGCBL Playoffs. The Pioneers will travel to McDonough Park for a meeting with the Geneva Red Wings, with the winner facing the Jammers in the best-of-three PGCBL Semifinals. |
