Throughout the season, the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League will be recognizing a Player and Pitcher of the Night on each game day.

Player of the Night: Michael Ludowig, Amsterdam (Wake Forest)

Ludowig recorded one of the biggest hits of the season for the Amsterdam Mohawks, singling in two runs in the top of the ninth to give the Mohawks a 7-6 victory over the Saugerties Stallions at Cantine Field. The Wake Forest Demon Deacon reached base three times in the victory, adding a first inning single and a sixth inning walk to his tally. Amsterdam's left-handed hitting outfielder has hit safely in every Mohawk game this month, and is currently riding a 16-game hit streak. During that hit streak, Ludowig has recorded two or more hits eight times, including six times in his last eight games.

Pitcher of the Night: James Varela, Glens Falls (LIU Post)

For the second time this season, Varela came out of the bullpen to help the Glens Falls Dragons earn a victory. The righthander from LIU Post entered Monday night's game in the bottom of the seventh inning, and tossed two scoreless innings to keep a potent Watertown offense at bay. Varela struck out two of the eight hitters he faced, and did not allow a walk, tossing 22 of his 34 pitches for strikes. In seven appearances this season, the Levittown, New York native has posted a 2.66 earned run average, and has struck out 36 hitters in 27 innings with just 12 walks allowed.
