Friday's Results Saturday's Scheduled Games Amsterdam Mohawks at Albany Dutchmen First place in the PGCBL East will be on the line in the Capital District, as the Amsterdam Mohawks visit the Albany Dutchmen. Amsterdam holds a half game lead over both Albany and Saugerties in the East, as the top three teams in the East hold three of the top five records in the PGCBL. Amsterdam dominated the initial stretch of games between the historic rivals, but it has been all Albany as of late. After four straight Mohawk wins, the Dutchmen have won three straight in the last week, with two victories on Sunday and one on Thursday. Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at Utica Blue Sox After a narrow loss to the Watertown Rapids on Friday night, the Utica Blue Sox will remain at home against the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, who have lost three games in a row to see their divisional lead cut to 2.5 games. The series between Mohawk Valley and Utica has been evenly matched this season, with each team winning four games. Including Saturday night's tilt, there are three pivotal games remaining berween the divisional rivals in the 2018 campaign. Elmira Pioneers at Oneonta Outlaws A home-and-home series between Oneonta and Elmira will begin at Damaschke Field on Saturday night. The Outlaws and Pioneers have played three times this season, with the Outlaws winning the first game and the Pios responding with victories in the last two meetings. Elmira enters the contest 1.5 games behind Geneva for second place in the PGCBL West, but are in possession of the final playoff spot due to Jamestown holding the league's best record. Saugerties Stallions at Glens Falls Dragons The Saugerties Stallions will look to keep pace in the PGCBL East on the road in Glens Falls. With a win, the Stallions would either remain a half game behind Amsterdam or move into a virtual tie for first with Albany, depending on the result at Connors Park. The Glens Falls Dragons, who were idle in PGCBL play on Friday night, sit 5.5 games behind Amsterdam in the East. Saugerties leads the season series over Glens Falls, 3-2, with one home game remaining for each team in the final two and a half weeks. The Jammers will hit the road on Saturday night against Adirondack, who has battled their way to within three games of a playoff spot in the PGCBL Central. Jamestown won in the first game of the season between the two teams, claiming a 6-2 victory at Diethrick Park on June 15. Jack Rose (Hartford) will face Jack Wallace (Franklin Pierce) in the pitching matchup. Newark Pilots at Geneva Red Wings With three playoff spots possibly available in the PGCBL West, each contest in the division down the stretch will hold extra importance. Entering Saturday's action, the Geneva Red Wings sit in second place, leading the Elmira Pioneers by 1.5 games. The Newark Pilots are just one game behind Elmira, who currently holds the final playoff spot. Sean Lubreski (NJIT), who has earned a decision in six of his seven starts this season, will make the start at McDonough Park for the Red Wings. |
